He is an outstanding Plant Science researcher with Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Annamalai University, India (2015). He has 2.5 years of postdoctoral experience in Plant Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou. He is currently working at BGI Research since 2018 on African Orphan Crop Consortium (AOCC), and 10,000 plant genome sequencing projects (10KP). His academic and research profile is exemplary which can be best judged from his 70+ publications in SCI journals like Nature Plant, Nature Ecology & Evolution, Nature Communications, Plant Biotechnology Journal, The Plant Cell, Giga Science, Plant Cell & Environment, Horticulture Research, Frontiers in Plant Science, etc. It may be noted that, during his under-graduation he received the "Best Student Award". He was also a Gold medalist during his Masters. He was the recipient of the most prestigious and meritorious National level DST INSPIRE Fellowship awarded by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India to pursue his Ph.D. He has bagged several prestigious research grants from China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, State Key Laboratory of Biocontrol, and the Shenzhen Government. He is also a visiting Professor of South China Agriculture University, Guangzhou, and recently has been honored with a High-level talent award from Shenzhen Government, China.
