Dr. Protasio holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the State University of Londrina (1986), a masters degree in Crop Biotechnology - (1993) and a PhD in Plant Genetics (1998) both at the University of Guelph, Canada. Currently, he conducts research at Embrapa Café, developing research activities at the Biotechnology Laboratory of IDR Paraná (IAPAR), Londrina, Paraná. Previously, Dr. Protasio was a visiting researcher at the Center for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development (CIRAD), Montpellier, France from 2015 to 2016.
Currently, Dr, Protasio teaches postgraduate courses on genetics and molecular biology at the Biology Department of the State University of Londrina. And, a postgradute bioinformatics graduation course at the Federal Technological University of Paraná-Cornelio Procópio campus.Lastly, his experience in molecular biology and plant genetics, has focused mainly with Coffea arabica on the following subjects: transcriptomics, genomics, genetic mapping and broad genomic association of coffee trees.
